Super Girl - The Cat’s Pyjamas Selvedge - Blue

The Cat’s Pajamas Selvedge is an 8.5oz Japanese selvedge denim inspired by early 20th-century workwear and 1920s reproduction fabrics. The name references period slang, when “the cat’s pajamas” was used to describe something exceptional, capturing the spirit of the era this fabric draws from.

Woven with a soft vintage indigo tone and a subtle beige weft, the fabric presents a warm, aged appearance that feels historically grounded rather than modern. A classic white selvedge edge reinforces its traditional construction.

While 8.5oz is considered lightweight today, early 1900s catalogs often marketed 9oz denim as “ultra heavyweight,” making this fabric a faithful interpretation of period-correct denim. Its lighter weight makes it especially suitable for spring and summer while maintaining structure and authenticity.

True to its historical reference, the fabric is finished with a reinforced paper patch rather than leather, reflecting the materials used before leather patches became standard. Tin buttons complete the reproduction-inspired detailing.
